No Ale!
By Rebecca Angel
(To the tune of “Noel”)
Spending stolen loot
with a bounty on our heads.
We pirates were spotted.
To the docks we fled.
Despite the rush, how could we forget?
But soon we were filled
with much tears and regret.
No ale! No ale! No ale! No ale!
Six months at sea with no Dark, Stout or Pale!
We look-ed ‘round in the ship that night.
Opening every barrel from portside to right.
Dried pork, hard tack, and some peaches with fuzz.
But nothing fermented to give us a buzz.
No ale! No ale! No ale! No ale!
Six months at sea with no Dark, Stout or Pale!
The captain was a-feared
of the angry horde.
So he took out the resumes
of the pirates on board.
The candle burned down,
till he found in his file.
The deck hand he hired
was a brewer’s child!
No ale! No ale! No ale! No ale!
Six months at sea with no Dark, Stout or Pale!
We all gathered round, he had only begun.
“Get me all of the peaches,
six buckets and sun!”
The carousing that night
was heard twenty leagues away.
If you listened, you’d hear
what we pirates did say.
More ale! More ale! More ale! More ale!
Drink Peach Hard Cider and remember this tale!
